I don’t know how well that shows up on your screen in the banner. Is that just a slogan? Well, sort of. When creating a wordpress page, you’re asked to write a title, and then a brief description of what your blog is about. “God honoring, Christ centered” is there as much as anything to remind me what I’m doing here. What does it mean? Now that my friend is the right question.
God honoring means recognizes that on our own, we don’t amount to much. The only was to obtain salvation is when we realize we cannot do enough, work hard enough, pray, preach, teach or live good enough lives to earn our way into heaven. We must accept that we need God’s mercy and forgiveness, and then he of course gives it to us freely. God honoring means letting go and letting God. In all we do for our families, our employers, our churches, etc. we give God the credit for our ability. We honor God when we help another in need, when we send missionaries to foreign lands, when we raise our children to love and fear God, and when we say or do anything that points lost souls to Christ. We can honor God with our money, our strength, our abilities, our time; we can even honor God with our web logging. When we “decrease so that he must increase,” we honor God. To God be the glory.
Christ centered means we realize that the whole Bible story is about the Gospel of Christ. The first prophecy of Jesus in is Genesis Chapter 3. The brass serpent Moses lifted up? That’s a children’s sermon about the coming Messiah. He is the fulfillment of the Law given by Moses. The crucifixion is described in vivid detail; in Isaiah 53. The Bible tells in essence one story, and that story is about how fallen man relates to a holy and almighty God through his son Jesus Christ. In our ministry, in our lives, in our teaching, Christ must remain the central focus. IN OUR CHURCHES, and church activities, the message of the good news (gospel) must be the central focus. Politically motivated sermons, uplifting pick-me-ups, feel good mumbo-jumbo that have Christ make a guest appearance at the end are not Christ centered, and therefore are not God honoring.
Honor God with your time and talents, and keep your eyes upon Jesus. We have millions of professed Christians in thousands of churches in the U.S. that couldn’t tell you how to become a Christian if asked. We have a generation of “Christians” that don’t know who Jesus is. Share the truth with every one you have occasion to, and let’s encourage others to do the same. That’s our command and the world’s only hope.
Thanks and God Bless
