Family selfie with the Wienermobile. I mentioned last Saturday we were on our way to see this piece of Americana. They were giving out coupons, stickers and of course winnie whistles. I’ll include some more pics at the end of the post if anyone should care to view them.
Expositional vs. exponential. This item should have been on the list last week as well. I wanted to say that I would be preaching a topical sermon in an expositional manner but may have said exponential instead which would imply the sermon would go on forever and then some. That’s the gist but you can read the whole story here.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54 on February 2nd. I’m sure I’ll have some jokes about groundhogs and shadows between now and then. Stay tuned.

“I have a dream.” We live in soundbite world in which all information, from the paramount to the trivial, is reduced to 280 character tweets. I had the opportunity in high school to view the full I Have a Dream speech that Martin Luther King Jr. delivered back in 1963. Back then (1993) it was on Laserdisc but thanks to high speed internet and streaming video these days we can watch pretty much anything we would like on demand. You’ve probably heard a few selected lines but click here to watch the full speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It’s only 17 minutes, you can spare that on a Saturday.
This week on The Master’s Table I took on the sometimes emotionally charged topic of worship music in church. Is your service traditional, contemporary or a blend of both? Those styles often have more to do with music than anything else. I’ve seen memes on Facebook and Twitter that suggest we throw the screen in the trash and bring back church hymnals. I may have given some people that wrong idea when I wrote that getting rid of the big screen is not the answer but if there’s a problem it isn’t the screen, it’s what we choose to display on it. If you want deep, rich theology or music with your lyrics, then all we have to do is project them. The screen is merely a blank slate, literally.
I also shared a couple of Bible stories (part 1 and 2). It’s a play a words, stories about Bibles and not stories from the Bible.
Happy Monday opened with a segment on why we do Happy Monday. It’s been a while and active readers are kind of a revolving door.
Watch for falling iguanas. Iguanas sleep in trees. And if the temperature drops to 45 or below the smaller ones begin to die after a few hours. The larger ones enter a state of shock and may drop from the trees to the ground. This week in Florida the temps dropped into the 40’s with wind chill factors at or near 32. It was the coldest Miami had been in five years. It didn’t exactly rain frogs but cold blooded reptiles did fall from above.
Better plan ahead if you want to enjoy a romantic Waffle House rendezvous with that special someone on Valentine’s Day. Once again Waffle House will dim the lights and set the mood but you got to have a reservation. Click here to see the full list of locations in 22 states now taking reservations. No, seriously.
More pics with the Oscar Mayer vehicle. FYI: they are hiring drivers.

Love the pics….
You actually got to go INSIDE! That takes it to a whole other level!
