Satur-deja Vu

It’s a chocolate moose, get it? This is what the internet was made for. You’ve made it to the weekend, welcome to the Deja Vu.

I enjoyed this song parody. It’s funny, clever, and a little too much reading for a Happy Monday post. We try to keep those items short and sweet, requiring less than full brain power to process because, you know, Monday.

Censored Claus: The image is blurred out until the viewer decides to click on it and make it visible. This is going around Facebook posted with the caption “Why is this hidden?” I am naturally skeptical and it pays to be when using the internet, particularly social media. I suspect that someone posted this image and included tags or script in the coding to cause Facebook to conceal the image. It’s not something the average Facebook user would pick up on. I scanned through the source code for the image but couldn’t find any tell-tale sign. I am amateur at best. Here’s what I do know: if you upload the clear picture it doesn’t get covered, only if share the post. So Facebook is not actively censoring it. You can look at my Facebook right now to confirm. Hmm….

Here’s a fun fact: There were only two Christmas movies released in 1989, Prancer and Christmas Vacation. Johnny Galecki is in both. Best known for playing Leonard on The Big Bang Theory, it would not be wrong to say that Johnny Galecki was in every Christmas movie made in 1989.

An unrelated fact is that Christmas Vacation was written by John Hughes who also wrote Home Alone just two years later. If you take issue with those movies for whatever reason, think about this: How many films today feature nuclear families with both parents raising kids that include extended family visiting during the holidays? I would describe both of those movies as family films with the caveat that one is meant for children and the other is not.

This week saw the passing of David Prowse. The cause of death is technically Covid-19 but he was 85 years old and had numerous health problems including cancer, dementia and a battle with septic arthritis that nearly killed him 20 years ago. For those that don’t know, Prowse was the on screen appearance of Darth Vader whose voice was supplied by James Earl Jones. Shown above is a Return of the Jedi cast photo from 1980 but all my friends are nerds so you probably already knew that.

This has been a busy and crazy week but I don’t understand why really. I’ve been getting more blogging done than I did this past week, I guess it’s just that Christmas season tizzy we seem to get into. That’s it for now, make the best of your weekend, peace and God bless.
