Satur-deja Vu

ESV – Finally, an American made luxury car available in the English Standard Version. Thank you Cadillac. This is exactly what I need to drive to church.

Okay, that was originally the joke. I was going to ask readers to think about what other versions would look like as automobiles. None of y’all would have replied with anything so I went ahead and made a few more. Comments are welcome.

When did this…
become this?

The annual meeting last week in Nashville is the first time I saw the new images and iconography. The answer to the question is apparently August 2020. I really did miss that memo. Here is a page explaining the design elements behind the new logo and the rules for usage, such as do not add shadow or other effects, do not change the color of any elements, do not stretch or warp the logo, etc. There’s also a prohibition regarding past logos as “continuing to use of them creates an inconsistent experience for the brand.” (I didn’t type that wrong, that sentence was cut and pasted right off of sbc.net.)

Everything changes, I mean look at McDonald’s. The happy, brightly colored restaurant from my youth is all grown up now.

It looks like they did what they had to do in order to remain the official restaurant of dark and brooding DC characters.

Everything changes but 10 years really hit those two pretty hard.

Well, maybe some things never change:

Doughnuts – or donuts – became popular in the United States after soldiers brought them home from WWI. That would been around 1918 or so. Krispie Kreme coffee and doughnuts have been better together since 1937. You can buy them in grocery stores and gas stations but if you’ve never been to an actual restaurant when the “Hot” sign was lit, you just don’t know. It’s like looking at a 3 X 5 postcard and thinking you’ve seen the Grand Canyon.
