Satur-deja Vu

I am not the world’s biggest sports fan but my readers know I follow two teams very closely, the Atlanta Braves MLB team and the SEC Georgia Bulldogs. Prior to this week, the last time the Bulldogs were national champions Jimmy Carter was still in office. (Reagan had been elected but not inaugurated as of New Year’s Day 1981).

That Braves last won big in 1995, in the old Fulton County Stadium. Now within a three month period of time the Braves and the Bulldogs have won the highest honor in their respective sport.

Kirby Smart is now one of only four college football coaches to win a national title at his alma mater. Vince Dooley, at the age of 89, was on hand Monday night to congratulate him on the big win. Dooley coached at UGA from 1964 until 1988. He continued in his role as athletic director until 2004. It’s worth noting that the Bulldogs play on Vince Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.

The other big story right now is how this storm will (or will not) develop. In northwest Georgia we are expecting trace amounts of snowfall up to one inch of accumulation. We may get mixed precipitation or even steady snowfall for much of the afternoon on Sunday but the temperature will hover right around freezing.

I have some friends and family in North Carolina. Jim Cantore will be in Asheville, NC this weekend. So anyone nearby needs to get out while you still can.

That’s one way to look at it. We already had break and milk without panic buying but I made a trip just to make sure we had things to cook on the stove for a few days just in case we loose power and cannot microwave or bake in the oven.

It’s funny because it’s true.

This next item was placed in the Happy Monday folder but it’s kinda heavy for Monday morning. It’s a joke, don’t take it too seriously, but it’s a thinking person’s joke.

Stay safe, keep warm, have a good weekend.
