Sometimes I look at the banner at the top of the page and wonder if first time visitors are confused by the tagline “God honoring, Christ centered.” I used to write two or three long form blog posts each week. Back then we served in a ministry that was geographically isolated. Today I pastor a small SBC church and all that that entails. I keep letting people appoint me to leadership positions in things. And we have a middle schooler that joins things and needs carried places. Each and every item entry, if you dissect a Satur-deju Vu or Happy Monday post, may not be directly related to sharing the Gospel in some way. But taken on the whole each post is meant to enrich and inform the Christian believer. Happy Monday always has verses of scripture and inspiring or informative quotes, at least one of those quotes from a recognizable Christian leader. The Satur-deja Vu posts are about the intersection of faith and real life. Some days are a struggle and I hope the things I write and share are able to help someone along. We are about wrap up Holy Week and celebrate Easter Sunday tomorrow. Some days make it real easy to walk the Christian path. Some days are rough and for some those turn into rough seasons. In the upper left-hand corner are links to sermons. They are steeped in scripture. Sometimes you need something else. An encouraging word, a laugh a smile, or just the knowledge that others are in the same boat. A single website cannot be all things to all people. But if I write a post on the empty tomb or share a pic of a dog wearing sunglasses and a hat that makes your day, then maybe that post was just for you.
That’s really a behind-the-scenes look at director Mel Gibson Jim Caviezel on the set of The Passion of the Christ. The meme is also funny and an important reminder. And it comes up every now and then because Facebook memories shows it to me every year.
Anybody notice the Pringles logo changing in 2021? I don’t eat that many Pringles. At first I was upset they dropped the bow tie but I guess he is actually wearing a giant bow tie that says Pringles on it. In other logo news Guitar Center has rebranded their logo for the first time in 50 years, possibly after being bullied into abandoning the old logo by Twitter.
Twitter users had been making fun of the guitar shaped G for years, replacing the actual G with a guitar in everything from Olive Garden to Gilmore Girls.
Gilbert Gottfried has passed at the age of 67. He shared the pic above in January, shortly after Bob Saget and Louise Anderson passed away in the same week.
Priceline is good at finding cheap tickets but buyer beware: sometimes you get what you pay for. Dorcas Muwandi booked a flight to Dubai, traveling on Delta from Atlanta to New York then on to Tel Aviv. The final leg of the trip from Tel Aviv to Dubai was booked on FlyDubai Airlines. The problem is that the connecting flight to Dubai did not exist. Muwandi was arrested at the airport in Tel Aviv by Israeli authorities and held for 24 hours, before being flown back to the United States. Priceline sold her a ticket for a flight that did not exist and so far has refused to refund her any money. They first blamed her for what they called a paperwork problem but have since said they will will issue a refund if they are at fault. She later booked another flight – not through Priceline – and did vister her daughter in Dubai for Christmas.
That was nice of them I guess. But I can tell you from experience that too long after the expiration date, solid ingredients in orange Gatorade separate from the liquids and settle on the bottom of the bottle. If that new roof last 10 to 20 years… you’re not gonna want that Gatorade, that’s all I’m saying.
Let me start by saying I get it. Some teens these days have been known to eat Tide pods or even drink battery acid. If a TikTok video suggests you can charge an iPhone in 30 seconds by zapping it in the microwave there are going to be some kids burning up their phones and ruining their parents’ microwave in the process. The meme is making fun of Millennials in particular and our society in general for getting dumber as time goes by. Just because I apply critical thinking skills doesn’t mean that I don’t get jokes or have no sense of humor.
Having said that… let’s consider some of those critical thinking skills. It’s true that a modern car’s owner manual will not give you information on adjusting the valves. But it’s not because people today are less intelligent than 50 years ago; it’s because adjusting the valves is no longer necessary. There is no adjuster because direct overhead cams have no pushrods or rocker arms. You don’t have to adjust the carburetor air fuel mixture or idle speed because one, carburetion has been replaced by fuel injection and two, your car’s ECM computer makes continual adjustments by monitoring intake air, RPM’s, and the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the exhaust system. 50 years ago most cars didn’t last for 100,000 miles but today we don’t even change spark plugs until they have 100,000 miles of use on them. Cars today self-diagnose mechanical and electrical problems. They know where they’re going, remember where they’ve been, and some even park or drive themselves. So tell me again how smart we were 50 years ago?
This text message describes what we’ll be doing tomorrow. If you can work it out great, it not I will summarize: have a happy Easter!

Mr. Pringle went to a church in Millburn NJ.
