Good News Food News – Taco Bell is bringing back the Mexican pizza. It has been rumored, then “confirmed” rumored, but we now have an official announcement and a date from the chain. The fan favorite will return May 19th with select locations getting a one or two day early release. Above right is the spicy Chick-fil-A biscuit which is only available for a limited time. While that news could be better is the first time since 2016 that is has made a comeback. The official date is April 25th but our local Chick-fil-A has them on the menu already. Last year movie makers gave us a new Ghostbusters sequel and all three Spider-Men (from the last 25 years) in a film together. Now fast food has decided to give us what we want. It’s like consumer sovereignty is actually a thing again.
Nice ray you got there. I am notorious for not taking vacations. We never go anywhere or do anything that’s not a church mission trip/retreat or that isn’t to visit family out of town. But we have a middle schooler that was on spring break and I don’t want to be an old grouch (like my father was). One day last week Johannah and I made a day trip to Ruby Falls. Then at the end of the week our whole family spent at least part of the weekend in Gatlinburg. The pics above are from Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. On the left is Jo being photobombed by a ray. On the right her mother helps to recreate that pic in the giftshop.
“The pandemic allowed workers to reevaluate their lives and what they wanted out of a job.” That’s according to a CNBC article about how 92% of workers surveyed and in favor of a shortened workweek. The idea is to work 80% of the traditional workweek, for 100% of the pay, provided you still achieve 100% productivity. It’s about eliminating waste and unnecessary meetings. Companies are simply forced to try new things after the pandemic changed worker expectations. “Almost 48 million Americans walked away from their jobs in 2021, and the trend is still in full swing, with nearly 4.4 million workers quitting in February, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.” All I can say is, we’ll see. Workers in the EU nation of Greece had so many vacation days, paid leave and shortened work weeks that the nation became financially insolvent. Somebody has to work because we can’t just printing money and expect nothing to go wrong.
Bubly Water display at our local Kroger. I took this pic weeks ago, wanted wait until closer to Easter, then let it slip by. The folder is kinda slim this week so you get an Easter Bunny display.
Facebook has removed an image which I posted that doesn’t meet their community standards. Note the date: Facebook has just removed a post this week that I shared four years ago. Something similar happened in November, when they pulled an image that I shared back in like 2014. I got 30 days of “Facebook jail” during which time I couldn’t post Live or buy ads. Now I have two months worth of restrictions because they are enforcing rules which either did not exist or were not enforced at the time I posted. It’s my second violation – even though I was not informed of the first violation until eight years after the event. At least they are willing to offer help if I’m going through a tough time; or if I was going through a tough time years ago and would like help now that is.
This old newspaper comic should seem about right if you lived through the 80’s. We didn’t have internet or mobile phones but I look back on that decade with fondness. Apparently Vladimir Putin misses the good old days as well, and is bent on restoring the former USSR to… glory. He is literally the only one that wishes to do so but is both very powerful and dangerous so he can’t simply be dismissed. I said weeks ago this can’t be the beginning of World War III because Putin is alone. We have already seen in the time since that even alone he is capable of doing great harm not only in Eastern Europe but all over the world. All of the nations imposing economic sanctions on Russia are hurting themselves to do so and the intercontinental ballistic missile tests are just a reminder that we are dealing with a nuclear superpower. Pray for Ukraine; pray for all of Europe; pray for the Russian people who suffer greatly under the iron fist of a leader that keeps telling them how great the war is going and how evil the rest of the world is.
This is supposed to be one of those pictures that shows how sometimes everything fits together perfectly and is extremely satisfying for OCD people. Does anybody see the problem? If all of the boxes are same size and shape, what’s going on over the wheel wells? Width and length aside, three dimensional objects also have height. And that truck bed has two large humps that correspond to the location of the wheels. The pic looks great; but it’s also fake.
They had no idea.
I didn’t get any social media links posted but iMonk Radio Podcast #86 has been up since Thursday. We’ve got about four months left before I have shared all of these I have archived. There have been hundreds if not thousands of mp3 downloads since the series began so there is definitely still a Michael Spencer fanbase out there.
