Continue readingOld School Wordle – Paul Wilkinson reminds us that before Wordle became the hottest thing since the Internet wordles were also known as word clouds or tag clouds. The more frequently a word occurs the more prominently it appears in the wordle. The one above is based on the whole Bible.
Continue readingIt’s fall y’all. The little bird is telling everyone how cold it is in the morning. You can follow him on Twitter. Meteorologists, who study weather and not meteors for some reason, consider September, October and November to be the fall months. The autumnal equinox is not until September 22nd which most people (and calendars) consider the first day of fall in the northern hemisphere and the first day spring in the southern. My family has already been apple picking and I can tell the weather is changing. It’s almost enough to cause me to wear long sleeves and not go outside barefoot. It’s time for the social media posts to start in about hoodies, furry boots, hot cocoa and bonfires. All your favorite fall activities are centered around trying to keep warm. I understand the appeal of some of those things but fall is a transition season into winter. I don’t get those people. Whether you love winter or not it hates all of us equally, that’s why it is trying to kill us. Refer back to the angry bird in the picture. He gets it.

Continue readingApples in season – As soon as the Satur-deja Vu was published last week my family packed up and headed to Blue Ridge, GA. The weather forecast called for only a 60% chance of thunderstorms that day as opposed to 80% on Sunday and Monday. Labor Day weekend was the first “U-Pick” event at Mercier Orchards and we definitely made the right call. Apple/ apple cinnamon is the official flavor of fall in our home, not pumpkin spice, and we came home with a peck. That’s approximately 2.2 gallons.

Then on Tuesday Teresa and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. September 6th, 1997, was the same day as Princess Diana’s funeral. Mother Teresa passed away the same day as well. We were married 12 years before our daughter Johannah was born. Other couples our age have children that are grown and some have grandchildren. My younger brother became Grandpa Bunch earlier this year at the age of 40. I’m happy where we are.
Continue readingHopefully you are enjoying a three day weekend even as we speak. If that’s the case tomorrow will feel like Monday. Go get ’em tiger!

Continue readingCollege football kicks off today. I’m sorry. I don’t know where these predictions come from but, yeah, this all seems legit. The big news is that the college football playoffs are expanding to 12 teams. Sometimes four doesn’t seem like enough but the current CFP (College Football Playoff) series has been in place since 2014. The 12 teams will consist of the six highest-ranked conference champions and six at-large teams, similar to other NCAA tournaments. 2026 is when the expanded format might begin, after the CFP contract expires. But the powers that be would like to it start as early as 2024.
