Satur-deja Vu

This was me on Black Friday. How did you make out? My week was mostly driving and eating pie but there are a few things worth mentioning.

Thanksgiving Worship. We did get to have a community Thanksgiving worship service in Calhoun for the first time since 2019. Our local Ministerial Alliance has two services each year, a Sunrise Service on Easter morning in the park and a Thanksgiving service in the theater of the Harris Art Center. The crowd was a little over 50 strong Monday evening and it was good to see people come back after the hiatus. See more at our Facebook page (whether you have Facebook or not).

Jay Leno, seen here with the care team of the Grossman Burn Center, has been released from the hospital. You may have heard about a gasoline fire in his garage. He was badly burned while using gasoline to start one of his steam powered cars. After a couple of surgeries and skin grafts he is back to being all smiles… and denim. My wife calls that outfit Canadian fatigues. I tried to leave the house once in blue jeans and a denim shirt and she told me I was not the Marlboro Man.

Who said it? Jason Romano sent the tweet but do you know the guy pictured below sharing his testimony? Mark Calaway was raised in a Catholic family, played football and basketball in high school, and one season of basketball at a private Methodist university in Texas before leaving school to pursue a career in sports. None that may sound remarkable but you know him best as WWF/WWE superstar The Undertaker. He was a Deadman for 30 years but is now alive in Christ. There are many interviews, here’s one with Ed Young.

Every… Doctor… Ever. David Tennant appears as both the 10th and 14th Doctor in this big group shot as the BBC teases the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who coming November 2023. They’re all there including The War Doctor, The Fugitive Doctor and Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor. They will not all be in the special but David Tennant will be returning with Catherine Tate as Donna Noble and portray the 14th Doctor before handing off the role to Ncuti Gatwa as the 15th Doctor.

College Football Rivalry Day – Mizzou played Arkansas yesterday, Auburn vs. Alabama and Georgia vs. Georgia Tech this afternoon. #2 Ohio State plays #3 Michigan at noon but either of those teams will probably advance to the playoffs if they only take one loss. The regular season is effectively over with the conference championship games next weekend. Note that a couple of those games will be played Friday evening and some of the matchups are not yet determined.

Hopefully between family get togethers, Thanksgiving dinner, Black Friday shopping and college football there was something for everyone this week. TNT will run a 24 hour marathon of Christmas Vacation on Sunday, maybe that’s your thing. We’re gonna wrap it up with this:
