I haven’t seen the film Jesus Revolution. Not only has Paul Wilkinson seen it, he previewed a special advanced screening in order to write about it. He also remembers living it the first time. I have not linked to anything of Paul’s in a while – I was not actively posting anything other than Happy Monday and the Satur-deja Vu there for a while – but let me recommend two posts at Thinking Out Loud if you haven’t seen them yet.
The Jesus Revolution: Seeing My Story on the Screen was posted February 27th, after people started asking if he would be reviewing the film. It seemed like a tough review to do because he was so close to the subject. His response was entirely emotional. Based on actual events is something of an understatement. Paul recalls meeting some of the people in real life and experiencing the revolution in real life as well.
5 Decades Apart notes that the Asbury Revival is taking place 50 years after the Jesus Revolution got in full swing in 1973. The events of the latter changed the face of worship permanently; it remains to be seen the reach and cultural relevance the former will have long term. I wrote about how instead of going to Asbury to see what is happening there we should all go to church and pray it would come to us. I have not said anything about Jesus Revolution because I didn’t really know anything (about the film or the events portrayed; I was born in 1975). Paul Wilkinson has insights into both. If you are not a follower of Thinking Out Loud check out the two posts linked. Please and thank you.
