The Last Supper was painted in the mid 1490’s. It was not uncommon to place characters of Bible stories in contemporary settings. There is a famous work that depicts Mary holding the baby Jesus sitting next to the Holy Roman Emperor. The people at the time knew the works were not historically accurate. Very few people were literate and the art of the time, such as oil paintings and stain glass windows, illustrate the people and events of the Bible. It took Michelangelo five years to paint the 343 figures on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. There is value to studying Medieval art just keep in mind that’s it’s only around 500 years old and depicts events from 2,000 years ago. Di Vinci and Michelangelo are closer to our time than the first century A.D.
I attended a Good Friday worship service last night at the end of the service the pastor extinguished the Christ candle. I had never seen that before but considering how we light the Christ candle in the center of the Advent wreath on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day it makes sense. Here is the explanation posted by pastor Jimmy Gentry:
The question is “What’s Lucifer doing at Chick-fil-A.” For the record, I don’t have the TikTok app and watched this video after it was cross posted to Facebook. This vehicle was spotted in a Chick-fil-A drive through so the answer is: Even the devil eats the Lord’s chicken.
Do not… put on… the mask. We are just recovering from a global pandemic, Putin is trying to start World War III, put that thing back where it came from or so help me. (So help me, so help me, and stop.)
Back in the 1950’s cars came equipped from the factory with AM radio. I would say that one’s in a Chevrolet, if I had to guess. Advances in radio made during World War I led to a boom in the spread of radio stations and home receivers in the 1920’s. You’ve probably seen pictures of families setting around a big furniture piece radio listening to The Lone Ranger, Fibber McGee & Molly, The Shadow or Little Orphan Annie. Those were AM or Amplitude Modulation radio sets. Frequency Modulation (FM) allows two channel stereo reception so it’s a better choice for music but AM continued for decades broadcasting talk radio, live sporting events and things like news, weather and traffic.
The new Mustang coming in 2024 will not offer the AM band on their radio. With options like FM, satellite and bluetooth connections, Ford feels customers have plenty of alternatives. The F-150 Lightning dropped AM after its first year of production. Tesla did away with it years ago. There is some pushback from government officials about emergency broadcasts and warnings but if only a small percentage of radio listeners hear those warnings now are we really losing anything? The issue may be related to the shielding required in EV’s to prevent radio interference, which AM is more likely to experience, but again the F-150 Lightning had AM for its first year and the new Mustang we’re talking about is not electric. Ford thinks it’s time for AM to go the way of cigarette lighters and bumper jacks. What do you think?
Twitter users that have not paid the premium for Twitter Blue lost the little blue bird for a day or two this week and instead got the logo for Dogecoin when signing in. Dogecoin prices soared as a result but as soon as the changeover was complete the Twitter logo was restored. There’s now the free version of Twitter, the paid subscriber blue check verified Twitter and companies can pay $10,000 for a gold logo Twitter account. Elon Musk hopes that paying for access will cause users to take the platform and what they post more seriously.
Apparently this is happening next year. If this prediction is correct, I live in the 80% eclipse range and only a short drive from the 90% path. I’m gonna have Bonnie Tyler stuck in my head for the next 12 months.
Well what’s this? They say you are what you eat or I guess in this case I am what I eat.
This week on the Master’s Table I wrote about seeing Chadd Wright and Chris McDaniel speaking and leading music respectively at an annual wild game supper. I attached this image to the post and my link on Twitter was covered with a warning that some readers may be sensitive to the content. Considering that technically speaking the image contains severed heads – of deer – I decided not to appeal the decision. I posted He Cannot Save Himself to the Unity website; look for the more recent Easter poem tomorrow morning.
