National Day of Prayer 2023

The Rome Area Prayer Breakfast celebrated 30 years with author and speaker Lee Strobel. He was last in Rome when researching his book The Case for Faith.

This was the best picture I was able to get while he was speaking.

Can you believe this man is 71 years old? Yeah, I know right.

I’ve been attending the AdventHealth Gordon prayer event since 2013 when we had 550 people and were able to circle the entire hospital! Shown above are myself, Jason Hawkins, Mian Hill and Chris Self leading a group of 40 or 50 in prayer. My official capacity is president of the Gordon County Christian Ministerial Alliance. At my request I led prayer for pastors, chaplains and all those who serve in ministry. Jason Hawkins is a long time friend who has spent the last 20+ years in the Calhoun City School System. He led prayer for military and first responders. Mian Hill is the chaplain at Advent Health Gordon and Chris Self is the CEO. I learned today that he lived in London, KY, where our daughter Johannah was born, and became CEO of Advent Health Manchester in 2016. We lived in Oneida, KY for nine years and often ate, shopped and attended church in Manchester. When I shared these pics on Facebook Ken Bolin, pastor of Manchester Baptist, said that Self was a good friend. Here are some more pics.

Dr. Joe Joyave speaking to Chaplain Hill. They seem to be having a good time.

Mom and I on the left, Jim Burns pastor of Reeves Baptist, and the couple is Jackie and Rosellen Burns, members at New Echota United Methodist. Rosellen started the Gordon County Hunger Walk 11 years ago and Christmas in July before that. She has been part of the Ministerial Alliance since it began.
