How many (fill in the blank) does it take? It’s an old gag but sometimes a lot of thought goes into these. It’s funny and features doggos, why here and not Happy Monday? It’s simply too much reading. Nobody’s ready for that on Monday morning.

Your friendly neighborhood blogger has been sick this week. On the one had it was “just a cold” but on the other hand it took me out of commision. I spent a full day and the majority of another on bed rest. I don’t mean eating soup and crackers in bed watching TV either, I mean I was asleep. The deja vu isn’t gonna look like much because I didn’t see or do much but let’s get at it.

It’s not making fun of prayer as one critical commenter claimed. Thoughts and prayers has become somewhat of a knee jerk reaction and a cliche these days. It’s like saying “Go in peace, be warm and filled” without giving the person asking anything to eat. Check James 2:16 for reference. I don’t agree with everything the pope says but it hasn’t been long since we ran the quote of Pope Francis saying “Pray for the hungry and then feed them. That’s how prayer works.”

Chipper, Frenchy, Glav and Smoltz – Chipper says for one night only we can call him Larry. On June 8th the Mets will be in Atlanta and these four will be in the broadcast booth. I don’t know if it matters who wins the game that night will be a hoot.

Yes it’s real but don’t worry about having to lug your bags up this staircase. (Is it called luggage because we lug it around, or did we adapt lugging stuff around because luggage was already a thing?) These are the fire stairs in the back of the Doubletree Hotel in Alexandria, VA. They are meant to be used only in the event of an emergency in which case you want to exit as quickly as possible and not take anything with you. Watch that first step, it’s a doozy.

A doozy refers to something notable or remarkable, such as this 1932 Duesenberg Model J.

And finally even I heard about Tina Turner this week. She had been battling an extended illness, diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016 and having a kidney transplant in 2017. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Ike Turner back in 1991 and is one of only three women to have been inducted a second time, for her solo career in 2021. Tina Turner was 83.

Speaking of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Dolly Parton tried to withdraw her nomination in 2022. After being inducted she said she would make good on the accolade and record a rock and roll album. Rockstar will be released in November and feature compilations with Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Steven Tyler and many others.
