Satur-deja Vu

Might have to read it twice – maybe three times. In the last series before the All Star break the Atlanta Braves with a record of 59-27 scored 2 runs while Tampa Bay, with a record of 57-34, scored 1. Not sure about ACLS but someone was obviously very excited (and maybe a little inebriated).

At the All Star Game the National League won for the first time since 2012. At one point the entire Braves infield – Matt Olson at first, Ozzie Albies at second, Orlando Arcia at short and Austin Riley at third – were all in at the same time. Sean Murphy caught three or four innings but was out when the rest of the infield position players came in together. The multitude of Braves players didn’t make any big offensive plays (Acuna just missed a lead off homerun to start the game) but did have a couple of big defensive plays to hold the American League to two runs.

Artificial Intelligence – In addition to making text bold, italicized or adding a link WordPress now gives me the option to get AI assistance when writing blog posts. I haven’t clicked on it yet but I may someday get brave enough just to see what it does. In the meantime I will continue to be God-honoring, Christ-centered with whatever natural intelligence I’ve been given.

I’ve seen the memes that claim Disney had this completed film on the shelf with no plans to release it. So my critical thinking (natural intelligence) brain had to beg the question “Then why did they have it on the shelf?” Sound of Freedom was complete at the time 20th Century Fox was acquired by Disney in 2019. It may have never seen the light of day had Angel Studios not bought the rights and released it in 2,850 theaters last week. AMC, Cinemark and Regal took a bit of a chance by releasing the film during the busiest movie season of the year but the film has done great at the box office finishing third behind The Red Door and Indiana Jones despite playing in fewer locations. We all know what a sandwich is. It’s simple… until it isn’t. I used to ask people about a hot dog being a sandwich – which for the record it is. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she believed a hot dog could be a sandwich but it depends on how sandwich is defined. Is an open face sandwich really a sandwich? That is also a point of controversy for some folks. The United States Department of Agriculture defines sandwich based on how much meat it contains: “at least 35% cooked meat and no more than 50% bread” for closed sandwiches, and “at least 50% cooked meat” for open sandwiches. So if it doesn’t have meat then you don’t have a sandwich. See, it’s complicated. Every grilled cheese sandwich you’ve ever eaten is not even a sandwich, according to the government. Across the pond the British have stipulations about cold ingredient preparation so neither hot dogs, hamburgers nor grilled cheese are sandwiches. When I started this debate online this week some asked why we are letting the government define what a sandwich is in the first place. Their definitions have to do with the taxation of food items. Grocery items are not taxed at the same rate as other goods while prepared food is taxed at either the regular rate or at least higher than basic necessities. Meanwhile…

Burger King in Thailand puts 20 slices of American cheese on a bun and calls it a Real Cheese Burger. We’re over here splitting hairs about the definition of sandwich while at BK there are no rules and words don’t mean anything.

Fireworks are legal in Georgia but there are stipulations about when you can celebrate because some people have to go to work each morning. Freedom is great but if there were no rules at all we would live in anarchy. I tried to look up when the shooting of fireworks is allowed but that statement above; something in that isn’t right. It would appear that on any given night you can shoot fireworks until 11:59 PM but on the 4th of July you can keep going for one extra minute.

THE WHAT?!? I’m sure they posted something funny and I probably said something humorous or sarcastic in the comment section. Facebook gives you the option of displaying the badge or not and I did not.

History of the week –

I guess that’s about it for this week. This makes two Saturdays in a row and that ain’t nothing!
