The USA became the first country in modern Olympic history to reach the milestone of winning 3,000 medals on Tuesday. When the four swimmers shown above won silver, that put the total number of medals won at the 3,000 mark. At the Olympic Games in Paris the US has won 9 gold, 18 silver and 16 bronze medals; going into this week, accounting for all medals through the 2022 winter games, the US held 1,175 gold, 951 silver and 833 bronze. Considering all medals from all time gets kind of complicated as some nations have combined or separated over the years. The Soviet Union fell apart in the early 90’s while Germany was reunified. There is no other nation anywhere close to the US record but If you really want to get deep in the weeds there are multiple tables and explanations of how the data is represented on this page.

The first ever Chick-fil-A of its kind is opening in Henry County, Georgia. Located 20 minutes south of Atlanta (in Stockbridge but with a McDonough address) the two story building with four drive through lanes underneath is truly unique. This is a prototype design so we will have to wait and see if it catches on.

Sovereign Citizens – If you have ever seen the YouTube videos (or as I much I hate to say it FB Reels or TikToks) of people being pulled over and claiming to sovereign citizens that are not under the jurisdiction of law enforcement officers, then many of the statements on this license plate will sound familiar. I saw the image online but don’t know the story behind it. Someone could have made this as a parody but on the other hand, I wouldn’t put it past some people to try it.

There is no red in the picture above. Click the image to view full size and you could zoom in. Even if you think they cheated and added a little pink, I confirm it really is white. I used the color picking tool in my photo editor then white-washed a large swath of the image with a brush.

The numbers vary from 50% according to NOAA to 70% per National Geographic but rain forests do not produce the majority of atmospheric oxygen. That’s not to say we don’t need rain forests or that planting a tree on Arbor Day is a bad idea; just that perhaps a paradigm shift is in order.

Back to School – Not everyone responds the same way to the first day of school. Please pray for teachers, students and support staff as the new school year begins. If you drive in the mornings watch for kids waiting on the school bus. The buses themselves are large, well marked and have blinking lights but children waiting for the bus may be harder to spot. It takes a little while at the beginning of the year to get into a routine. Let’s all be safe out there, that’s what I’m trying to say.
