Satur-deja Vu

Coincironical – adjective; a combination of the words coincidence and irony, used when you know it should be one or the other but are often told you are using irony wrong. Example: When I re-started the Master’s Table I said we would take it easy and probably not be doing the Satur-deja Vu and Happy Monday posts like we used to a regular basis then, coincironically, some weeks Satur-deja Vu and Happy Monday are all that gets posted. Last week I missed a Saturday post but it was a good day spent with family.

Family members and friends IRL know that my mother passed away a couple of months ago. She had a short struggle with ovarian cancer and spent just a few weeks on hospice care. Dad passed away 14 years ago and is buried at the Georgia National Cemetery near Canton, GA. This past Saturday, kind of a last minute thing with little planning, we met up with my brother and his family to view the newly cut head stone. I wrote lengthy obituary post for Lewis Bunch back in 2010 but after everything in May and June I was tired. My mush brain would hardly function well enough to do daily activities. When Dad was sick, Mom was his caregiver. It takes a visible toll on a person’s physical health to care for another person and manage a home at the same time. Teresa and I were in Kentucky back then and my brother Johnny did more than his fair share when Dad passed. So when Mom went on hospice care I was determined to be more available than I had been with Dad. Our immediate family had other things going on this summer as well but someone was with Mom during her hospital stay and then at her home at all times for several weeks. We made it work because that’s what you do for family. We were extremely blessed to have the support network of church members and extended family. The viewing and funeral turned into a reunion of sorts of old church friends, family and other close friends that we just don’t take the time to spend time with. At one point I stood in a small circle of my friends and realized a couple of them had never been in the same place at the same time.

I didn’t mean for this post to turn into that, just wanted to say that last Saturday was time well spent with family. By the way, credit to Dudley Morris for conincironical. We both use it but he was first. Here are some other things you may or may not have caught during the last two weeks.

There seems to be no end to the Raygun memes. For her part she seems to have accomplished exactly what she set out to do. In her own words:

What’s next Chick-fil-A? If you see or hear of a viral TikTok video of a young woman ranting about being charged 10 cents for a take out bag at Chick-fil-A, yes that really happened. However…

In the city of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, a new law went into effect January 1 of this year. Single use plastic bags have been outlawed and businesses must charge a fee of 10 cents, which must be shown on the receipt, if they supply a paper bag. It is required by law. The fee is meant to offset expenses incurred by businesses to make the switch away from plastic and also to make the business and customer think twice about using a bag that might not be necessary.

Cartoons about coffee would normally be Van Til’s thing but this image is too much information to process on a Monday morning. I don’t get the dig at Keurig but what this post is missing is an entry for “here’s how a perfectly normal person prepares coffee at home each morning.”

I missed the guy standing in the back of the van, but I also feel like I called it. Hey, it’s only stupid if it doesn’t work. Or the police get involved. You know if he gets stopped they are not writing him a ticket and then letting him continue on his way.

That is not a Chevy SSR. Some people’s reactions were like “Oh I hated those things back in the early 2000’s.” That is the front end of an HHR with a truck bed mated to it, probably from an S-10. It is very well done and as an HHR owner that happens to like the SSR concept I think it’s great and would not hesitate to buy one. I was a little concerned this image was generated by AI (I fell for the comfort mower thing a few weeks ago) so I did a little research. I found a FB Marketplace posting for this vehicle two years ago up in Ontario. It was listed as a 2011 HHR and it sold for $10,000. That was money well spent.

There’s an easy way and a hard way, let me just say that. I was a couple of steps into the hard way before I realized.
