Plainville, 1949 – I just learned that a film was made in 1949 showing people and places in Plainville, GA. It’s on YouTube, and the video quality is absolutely terrible, but wow. The screen grab above is the back of Unity Baptist Church, where I have been the pastor since 2014. Additions were later made to each side, including a Sunday School wing that doubled the interior square footage of the building, and the outside was bricked up in 1955. The bell tower still looks just like it always has so I am beyond certain that I can identify this building. It’s a cliche that continues to repeat itself. I don’t know how this is possible; it’s not like this event happened suddenly without warning. We’ve been getting reasonably accurate forecasts since at least Monday that inches of snow and possibly freezing rain would hit our area on Friday. There were grocery stores stocked with bread and milk on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and yet some people waited until Thursday evening, less than 12 hours before the first flakes fell, so they could complain all the bread was gone.

Plainville, 2025 – This screen grab is from a cell phone video I shot yesterday morning around 9 a.m. Shown above is the home office of The Master’s Table. The church was remodeled and bricked up in 1955, this house was not built until 1957.

Carson Beck first said he was go to the NFL draft then entered the transfer portal instead. It took less than 24 hours for him to sign a $4 million dollar deal with Miami. He has one year of eligibility left and will spend that time as a Miami Hurricane. They had a great year and a good season with them should position him well for next year’s draft.

At the risk of sounding pedantic, we need to discuss the definition of salad. That’s not a garden salad made with lettuce and vegetables but it is a salad which is simply different ingredients mixed together. If you were making cake batter, you would mix the ingredients until they were homogeneous, or the same throughout. If you mixed onions and green peppers with say spiral pasta noodles, and slather that with mayonnaise or ranch dressing, you have pasta salad. The components making up the salad are mixed together but retain their individual properties. Garden salad is salad but so it pasta salad, tuna salad, potato salad, chicken salad and so forth. It’s the same with cake. Rice cakes and urinal cakes may not be three layer birthday cake, but the ingredients are caked together. Rice cakes are cake Jim Gaffigan, sorry. Try spreading grape jelly on them, they’re not so bad.

There is hope for humanity yet.

Easy – This may be the easiest stereogram, or 3-D Magic Eye images, I have seen in a long time. You have to unfocus your eyes on the picture to see the hidden image; Google it, there are many tutorials online. It occurred to me after last week that not everyone needs a image that is super easy to pick out. Maybe some of you have been doing these for 25 years and would like something more challenging.

Apparently it has taken 15 years but God has noticed The Master’s Table. I’m sure he has been aware this whole time, he must have only recently hit the subscribe button. Some of you reading this right now are probably in the same boat.

I don’t spend all day every day lying on the couch covered in puppies but we just had a long break. Actually the one looking out the window belongs to my daughter but the 4 month old pit-lab mixes are available for adoption. The one at my face is a boy, the one with the most white is a girl.
