Can we talk about this? Not 2 Cor. 5:7, that’s great. That is the whole verse, not just a snippet, and then some commentary has been added. I want to talk about all the verses and quotes I see online these days with the word AMEN! tacked on at the end. The last sentence of this quote, “If GOD has been good to you.” is not even a complete sentence. They used to ask for you to type or reply Amen but lately it has just incorporated into the post. There are several issues here. One, I refuse to share that because the grammar is wrong. I posted something a week or two ago and didn’t realize it said “us” in the quote where it should have said “is” until it was too late. Secondly, If I say something you agree with and you say Amen, that’s one thing. But I am not going to Amen myself. In the case of the image I could easily have cropped the bottom off but sometimes cropping the Amen would ruin the picture. So my third gripe is I sometimes keep scrolling because the Amen ruins the pic that would otherwise have saved for Happy Monday or share on Facebook myself.
Maybe it doesn’t bother anybody else on this planet but I just wanted to get that off my chest. Okay, on to bigger and brighter things.
Did anybody watch the Grammys Sunday night? I didn’t either, I doubt many in my target demographic did. Supposedly there was a little tiff between Beyonce and George Strait last year over what real country music is and who’s ruining it. I can’t find any concrete evidence that he even said anything about her but the viral call-out and supposed responses made the rounds on social media. Strait has already been accused of saying that Beyonce winning this Grammy means the future of country music is doomed; again, I don’t think the quote is real but it gets people riled up who go on social media and do say real things. Let me throw some cold water on this outrage. The Grammy Awards are decided by The Recording Academy. I don’t know where they are located but the awards ceremony is often in LA but sometimes in Chicago or New York. It doesn’t bother me that the Grammys in LA recognized Beyonce for her country album. If the Country Music Association Awards or the Country Music Television Awards gave Beyonce Country Album of the Year maybe that would concern the gatekeepers of “real country.” As it stands, this is fine. Beyonce has a Country Album award, Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, we live in a crazy world so just enjoy it.
Speaking of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (which was a contrived segue at best) visiting the Hall of Fame was probably the most exciting this I did this week in real life. I took a ton of pictures which I have not posted yet; I just got back in last night from Cleveland. There’s a statement I have never spoken nor written before. That’s me in the pic above, between the words Long and Live. We drove through a little bit of rain with snow in it Wednesday evening but were safely in a hotel room when the freezing rain fell all night and encased my car in ice. I spent most of my time looking at historical artifacts like Hank Williams’s suit, Elvis’s motorcycle and Jerry Lee Lewis’s piano. I will get around to uploading those; or not… UPDATE: I did get around to posting on those pics, on My Other Blog.
Flakes of ham… um, no thank you.
It probably says “God is now here” since it’s the First Baptist Church. But it could also say “God is nowhere” which is why we use spaces between words and punctuation in most cases.
Speaking of Star Trek (I’m sorry, adding the Data/Lore meme to the church sign was an afterthought) here is a timeline of when each Trek series and movie takes place. I guess it needs Star Trek: Section 31 added shortly after 2258. Section 31 feels like a 90 minute pilot for a series that will never get made. That project was actually started pre-pandemic and was going to be a theatrical release, once upon a time. The Star Trek “experts” don’t believe I should like it nor should anyone else but I don’t like being told how I’m supposed to think or feel (and I don’t think you should either). Btw, I’m not saying I enjoyed it greatly or that it’s not bad; I do not think it is the worst Star Trek ever like some people. I would rather watch Section 31 than re-watch season 1 or 2 of Discovery. So if you enjoy Discovery, this is probably right up your alley.
And finally…
Superbowl LIX is tomorrow evening, featuring the Taylor Swift Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. There are more former Georgia Bulldogs on the Philly team than any other NFL franchise. On the other hand, a win by the Chiefs would be a record-setting three-peat. As usual, I have not watched any NFL games all season but the Super Bowl offers something for everyone. Whether it’s football, the half time show, the commercials or the food, most people can find something they like at a good Super Bowl party. I’m going with bone-in Buffalo wings for the win!

This is a tight zoom of the pic from this post. I’m sure no one thinks I’m lying about being there but maybe this was not the best way to take this picture. Hindsight is 20/20.
