Genesis 35 tells us again that Jacob’s name was changed by God to Israel, and carefully lists his 12 sons grouping them with the mother of each. This information will be important throughout the history of the Hebrews/ Jews and of some importance to Christian scholars. You might want to bookmark that chapter and refer to again some time. Chapter 34 was about the defilement of Dinah and her brother’s violent response to it; some parts of the Bible are more useful to us than others. If you enjoyed the John Wick movies maybe this chapter is in your wheelhouse.
I don’t know what to tell you about Genesis 36. This chapter records the family history of Esau’s descendants.
Genesis 36
These are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.
2 Esau took his wives from the Canaanites; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite;
3 And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth.
4 Adah bore to Esau Eliphaz; Bashemath bore Reuel;
5 Aholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.
6 Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, all the members of his household, all his livestock and all the property he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and moved into the country away from the face of his brother Jacob.
7 For their possessions were too many for them to live together; and the land could not support all of their livestock.
8 So Esau settled in the hill country of Seir: Esau is Edom.

As I read through Genesis. I am always astounded by the many peoples that have travelled and lived in the land we now call Israel.
