We have been looking at the instructions for making various types of offerings. Chp 1 was burnt offerings, chp 2 was grain offerings; this chapter is about fellowship or peace offerings and chp 4 will be sin offerings. That chapter will be a little more involved than the others leading up to it.
Leviticus 3
“If the offering is a sacrifice of peace offering, from the herd, male or female, he shall offer one without blemish before the LORD.
He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting: and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood on all sides of the altar..
He shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the LORD; the fat that surrounds the entrails, and the fat that is on the entrails,
the two kidneys, and the fat that is on the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, with the kidneys, it shall be removed.
Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire: it is an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the LORD.
If the sacrifice of peace offering to the LORD is from the flock, male or female, he shall offer one without blemish.
If he offers a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it before the Lord.
He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it before the tent of meeting: and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle the blood of it on all sides of the altar.
He shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the LORD; the fat of it, and the whole rump, which he is to remove close to the backbone; and the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat on the entrails,
the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them at the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, with the kidneys, shall be removed.
And the priest shall burn it on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire to the LORD.
If the offering is a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD.
He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it before the tent of meeting: and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle the blood of it on all sides of the altar.
He shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord; the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat that is on the entrails,
the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, by the loins, and the long lobe of the liver, with the kidneys, shall be removed.
And the priest shall burn them on the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire for a pleasing aroma: all the fat is the LORD’s.
It shall be a perpetual statute for your generations throughout all your dwellings, that you eat neither fat nor blood.”
