Schrodinger’s Bible – According to Google’s Search A.I. chapter 12 is both the shortest and longest chapter in Leviticus at the same time. If you guessed “the shortest chapter” you would be correct. Leviticus 12 is the subject of the latest Read the Bible podcast episode which clocks in at under 5 minutes. Tomorrow morning we will read chapter 13, which is actually the longest chapter in Leviticus at 59 verses. Yeah I know, right?

Those are real recorded high temps, not the heat index, feels like, or whatever other foolishness they report to freak people out over how hot it seems. It’s summer, it is supposed to be hot. But thankfully most of us will not be as hot this summer as the record high temps in each of the state’s shown on this map. For many states in the US, the hottest year on record happened in 1934. In a two week period in July, 13 states had either tied or new records and by the end of August it was 16. The map above shows the record high temp for each state and the colors indicate in which decade it occurred. What I found interesting was that Hawaii has the only record high below 100 degrees.

Collecting data can be a tricky thing. I tried to check the accuracy of this map by asking Google if any states had set new record highs lately. According to the AI search results, which we know are questionable at times, several states in 2024 tied or set new records. It gave me Nevada as an example, citing a new record high of 120 degrees. But when I plainly asked for the record high in the state of Nevada it gave me 125, set in 1994, which agrees with the map data shown above. A similar thing happened with North Carolina. The bottom line is, I don’t think it knows. Supposedly 2024 was on track to the be the hottest year on record but the specific examples cited were wrong; probably. No matter what it “feels like” to you when you step outside the AC, this year has been cooler for most of us thanks to all the rainfall. Yes, it has been too much in many places; pray for relief efforts in Texas and New Mexico.

How about a cool story? Some of you may not know what a Zamboni is at all. I have never been ice skating, although I have been places that have ice skating, and I also watch movies. Frank Zamboni stated with a Jeep chassis and built a machine to scrape a layer of ice off the top of an ice rink, collect the shaved ice, and spray a thin layer of water which filled in the deep scratches and froze over to create a smooth surface. The first commercially available Zamboni machines in 1949 were also based on WWII era surplus Jeeps.

The Scrubs reboot is real. Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke have all committed. Judy Reyes is in talks to return; she is currently on the ABC crime drama High Potential but they are working on the production schedule to make it possible. Scrubs originally ran from 2001 to 2009 on NBC before moving to ABC for a final season. Here is a link to the Blavity article shown above.

Ray Stevens was born in 1939 and is currently 86 years old. As of last week he was still performing and after a “minimally invasion” procedure following a “mild heart attack” he is in recovery and will presumably go back to performing. Stevens kept us entertained during the pandemic and should be considered a national treasure.

We sometimes report celebrity deaths and every now and then I think to myself “I didn’t know that person was still alive.” Here are some entertainment celebrities, most of which I recognize and maybe you will too. Clint Eastwood is still acting and directing and at 99 Dick Van Dyke is still exercising regularly and dancing. He says he used to exercise to look better, later he did it for his health and now he does it just out of spite.

I follow a FB group called “People Incorrectly Correcting Other People.” Take a look at that restaurant tab then get a load of this:

Oatmeal is a not a legume, he is right about that. Peanuts are legumes, and they serve peanut butter. The commenter either doesn’t know what legumes are, missed the peanut butter on the receipt, but thankfully did not miss the opportunity to put his foot in his mouth.

And Finally…

Vinn Diagram: Ramsey – This is one of those things that could have easily appeared in Happy Monday. But some thought process is required and first thing on Monday morning is not when you want to have to think about things.
