This chapter reminds us to respect the things of God and love the people that he loves. That’s the long and the short of it. God is saying “when you come into the land that I am giving you, don’t forget who I am.” There are a couple of well known, highly quotable statements in this passage.
Leviticus 19
The LORD spoke to Moses, saying:
“Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them ‘You shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
Every man shall respect his mother and father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Do not turn to idols, nor cast gods for yourselves out of metal : I am the LORD your God.
If you offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, you shall offer it of your own will.
It shall be eaten the same day or the next day after you offer it: and if any remains until the third day, it shall be burned in the fire.
If it is eaten at all on the third day, it is unclean; it shall not be accepted.
Therefore everyone that eats it shall be guilty, because he has profaned the sacred things of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap the very edge of your field, neither shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.
You shall not glean your vineyard, nor gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, nor lie one to another.
You shall not swear by my name falsely, nor profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.
Thou shall not defraud your neighbor, nor rob him:do not keep the wages of a hired hand all night until the morning.
You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but fear your God: I am the LORD.
You shall do no injustice in judgment: Do not be partial to the poor nor give preference to the rich; but in righteousness judge your neighbor.
Do not spread slander among your people, nor stand against the blood of your neighbor; I am the LORD.
You shall not hate thy brother in your heart: you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, and not incur guilt because of him.
You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.
You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle crossbreed with another kind: you shall not sow your field with mingled seed, nor wear a garment made of linen and wool.
Whoever lies with a woman that is a bond servant, betrothed to another man and has not been redeemed or made free; there must be punishment; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
He shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD, to the door of the tent of meeting, a ram for a trespass offering.
And the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he has committed: and the sin shall be forgiven him.
When you come into the land, and plant all manner of trees for food, then you shall consider the fruit of it as uncircumcised: it shall be uncircumcised to you for three years: it shall not be eaten.
But in the fourth year all the fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.
And in the fifth year you shall eat the fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the LORD your God.
You shall not eat anything with the blood. Do not practice divination nor seek omens.
You shall not cut the hair on the sides of your heads, nor mar the corners of your beard.
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.
Do not profane your daughter by making her become a prostitute; or else the land will fall into prostitution and become full of wickedness.
You shall keep my Sabbaths, and revere my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
Have no regard for those with familiar spirits, nor seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
You shall stand up before the grey headed, and honor the elderly, and fear your God: I am the LORD.
If a stranger stays with you in the land, ye shall not oppress him.
The stranger that dwells with you shall be as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You shall not use dishonest standards in measuring length, weight or volume. .
Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, you shall have: I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.
Therefore you shall observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.'”

Hey friends and fans, sorry about the Satur-deja Vu. If there is a post it will be much later in the day, possibly not at all. Just watch for Connie Francis memorials on the news or online and look at some Cold Play memes and that ought to about cover it for this week.
