We have dealt with some long chapters before by reading the text one day then having the discussion on the next. Numbers 7 is just shy of 90 verses so we are splitting this one into two episodes. There are several books of the Bible shorter than Numbers 7. Jonah for instance is divided into four chapters but it”s about the length of what we are reading today, Numbers 7:1-47.
Numbers 7 (pt 1)
On the day that Moses finished setting up the tabernacle, and anointed and sanctified it, with all its instruments, both the altar and all the vessels, and had anointed them, and sanctified them;
2 That the princes of Israel, heads of the house of their fathers, who were the princes of the tribes, and were over them that were numbered, made an offering.
3 They brought their offering before the LORD, six covered wagons, and twelve oxen; a wagon for two of the princes, and for each one an ox: and they brought them before the tabernacle.
4 The LORD spake to Moses, saying:
5 “Accept it from them, that they may be used in the service of the tent of meeting; and you shall give them to the Levites, to every man according to his service.”
6 So Moses took the wagons and the oxen, and gave them to the Levites.
7 Two wagons and four oxen he gave unto the sons of Gershon, according to their service:
8 And four wagons and eight oxen he gave to the sons of Merari, according to their service, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
9 But to the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging to them was to carry the tabernacle on their shoulders.
10 The princes also offered the dedicating gift of the altar on the day that it was anointed; the princes offered their offering before the altar.
11 And the LORD said to Moses “They shall offer their offering, each prince on his day, for the dedicating of the altar.”

If you click the Bible Gateway link at the bottom of the post, it should open in a new tab. For a long time it wasn’t doing that because I was not telling it to. I have been trying to do that each time I drop the link but it involves a couple of extra button presses that I did not do for so long that now it’s not my habit. But I’m trying.
