Satur-deja Vu

If I had that cup I would probably put it somewhere on display. The odd shape and contours would make it hard to wash. I have a Darth Vader mug, shaped like his helmet, that’s the same way. It was a Father’s Day gift and it will last forever, but I’ve only had coffee from it like once, twice at the most.

It’s been a while since we posted a Deja Vu. I can’t promise a new post every week but don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Enjoy this one and next week, we’ll cross the bridge when we come to it.

Bible Bricks, like Lego but more Old Testament. The price is $140 but you can save $10 by pre-ordering. Your pre-order payment helps fund production, which has not begun yet. The 1300+ pieces built the Hebrew tabernacle described in the Old Testament book of Exodus, complete with high priest and ark of the covenant (which presumably should not be touched or looked at). When I saw this in my feed, I was hoping it was a parody but no, it’s real. And since I clicked on the ad I now gets more ads for this every… single… day. Perfect.

The ark comes complete with Aaron’s staff, omer (jar) of manna and two tables containing the 10 Commandments. Someone has read their Bible. But in the image above, oh my, it appears Aaron is wearing shoes. If you read the instructions for making the priestly garments in Exodus 28, and later when the articles are sown together and he is dressed for the first time, there is never any mention of shoes. Combine these facts with Moses being told to take off his shoes, because he is standing on holy ground, when he spoke to God at the burning bush and I think it is most likely the priest ministered bare foot in the Holy Place and certainly when he entered the Most Holy Place (aka the Holy of Holies). So maybe someone read the parts of the Bible they consider interesting but skipped the boring parts. That’s a shame.

Have a seat. Oh look, you can buy the kind of cheap folding lawn chairs my grandparents had back in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m nostalgic about a lot of things but I’m fine with these living on just in memories. Grandma also had a rotary dial telephone on the wall in her kitchen and a black & white TV set. I remember these things but don’t feel like everything is worth replicating. Hand crank ice cream maker? Classic. Ashtrays and electric cigarette lighters in cars? No thank you.

Hmm…. I can’t imagine that means anything other than they will be giving/selling my info to advertisers.

America Online is actually older than the internet. Kind of like identifying who built the first car, not everyone uses the same definition of the internet. I consider the implementation of the first HTTP in 1993 to be the beginning of the internet as we know it. AOL was connecting users with external modems to BBS, or Bulletin Board Systems, in the 1980’s. The dial-up internet service ended on September 30th, and an estimated 163,000 households in the US were still using dial-up as their primary connection to the internet. I thought we were late to the game when we got our first DSL modem in 2008. I remember using dial-up; and not with nostalgia either, I just remember doing it.

I don’t even know where that came from, it’s not my original work.

Here’s an oldie but goodie that Facebook Memories showed me a while back.

The original poster said to guess just one but with a little bit of help on #24 I recognize every one of these. You might have to be a certain age but if you were born in the 70’s and grew up in the 80’s, you ought to be in good shape. When our daughter was two, one of her favorites was the Pink Panther. I had bought a DVD at Cracker Barrell and later completed my collection via Amazon. So through Cartoon Network, Boomerang and the modern miracle that is streaming, younger viewers might know most of these as well.

This one is pretty easy. Look for a word, not a picture.

We are well into college football season. They don’t have a perfect record but the Georgia Bulldogs are doing well; let’s be honest, they got lucky at Tennessee but did manage to take down previously undefeated Ole Miss last week. They play unranked Florida today at 3:30 and are favored to win the rest of their regular season games.

Final thought: Why have I have nothing about the Israel – Hamas ceasefire or even the East Wing of the White House being demolished? Because anyone that might ask the question already knows about those things. You are either cheering Trump’s new ballroom, cursing the destruction of the East Wing, or a third option is… totally oblivious because you do not care. Republicans are going to talk about what other presidents have done over the years to add to or renovate the White House, Democrats are going to quote what Hillary Clinton said about it being “the People’s house and Trump is destroying it.” Or again, the third option, the camp my wife is in, quit watching the news a long time ago. Your choice is your own. I’m here to talk about the things you might be interested in; this is a fun little romp we take that doesn’t involve choosing sides. The elements of the earth will melt with fervent heat (2 Peter 3:12) and God will create a New Heaven and a New Earth (Rev. 21). Nothing in DC will last, preservation society or not. This is all temporary, what are you doing for the Kingdom?

So ends the lesson.

  1. Oops. Georgia has their second bye week of the season today. Their next game will be against Florida next Saturday, November 1st. So for me there is no college football today.
