Betty White passes away just 18 days short of her 100th birthday. Fans flocked to Twitter to see if this was another hoax, which did happen in 2014. Lifetime had planned a Betty White Christmas movie but her declining health caused them to reconsider months ago. There was a movie about her life set to open on January 17th featuring White herself and an all-star cast. It is unclear whether that will go on as planned or perhaps be retooled as more of a tribute to the late star. A lot of people are making a big deal about how 2021 couldn’t just go in peace.

“We glorify God for answered prayer — the remaining 12 hostages are FREE!” Christian Aid Ministries said in a statement. “All 17 of our loved ones are now safe.” The Haitian National Police confirmed to the Associated Press that all hostages have in fact been released. At one time the 400 Mowgazi Gang were demanding $1 million ransom for each hostage. We do not know if any ransom payments or other arrangements were made. Read the full story via Christian Index.

Here’s a Christmas card that I like. Some Christians struggle with the idea of sending secular cards with Santa Claus, snowmen or winter scenes on them. The religious cards may have a nativity scene or wisemen following the star to Bethlehem but are wildly inaccurate based on a careful study of the text. Christmas Card Theology is a post from all the way back in 2009. Rethinking the Angel Choir and Rethinking the Wise Men are better written with scripture references included. Those posts are ancient by internet standards but we’re talking about the Bible here.

There’s money in them there walls. If you haven’t come across this story yet, you will. It has just gone viral but the event actually happened back on November 10th. A plumber was removing a toilet at Lakewood Church in Houston and discovered several hundred envelopes filled with cash and checks inside the wall! Back in 2014 the church reported $600,000 had been stolen from their safe. If this is that money, the plumber wonders, why did the person who stashed it never come for it? Right now they have more question than answers. The truth is stranger than fiction.
