Matters of the heart – There is still some back and forth but the general consensus across multiple studies is that coffee is good for your heart. For each cup of coffee consumed in one study the participants took an additional 500 steps that day. There are studies and reports very focused on specifics, like antioxidants or sleep patterns, but a study released March of last concludes that people who drink 2 to 3 cups per day live longer than those who do not. As for the meme, my love and I drink coffee together every morning.

Uga X should be in the college football hall of fame. Listen, I get it. You have either reveled in all the UGA coverage, interviews and memes for the past six days or you are sick and tired of it already. The infographic above is probably one you have not seen already but I’m not going to fill the Deja Vu post with celebration pics and football stats. PETA has once again asked the school to retire again and use human mascots. UGA has responded that he’s not going anywhere. If we are talking about the ethical treatment of animals – and not just grabbing attention or pulling outlandish stunts – then you gotta admit that Uga lives like a king.

New Year’s Eve Ball Drop – I’m going to start this week’s post discussing last Saturday’s Peach Bowl. Then we’ll do everything else before finishing with several items relating to the National Championship Game, giving you a chance to bail out if you would like.

In New York at midnight the ball dropped. In Atlanta, it hooked left. That particular screen grab makes it look like a good kick but it didn’t just hook a little to the left, it was more like 20 ft. to the left of the pole. The Georgia Bulldogs beat The Ohio State Buckeyes 42 – 41 and won the Peach Bowl by a single point. The wide kick corresponded almost exactly to the countdown ringing in 2023. The CFP semifinals did not disappoint this year. At halftime OSU led 28 – 24 and it was close all the way down to the final minute. TCU upset Michigan like no one but TCU fans could have predicted.

Last week it was 9 degrees when I got up. Today we are starting at 55 and looking for a high of 63 this afternoon. The average temperature for the month of December is 52 but it’s not uncommon to have highs in the 70’s and for the sun to make it feel warmer than it actually is.

It’s cold. That’s the big news where I live. Much of the deep South is about to have the coldest Christmas in decades. The last time northwest Georgia saw single digit temps was 2014. I was working with my brother in HVAC at that time. A lot of stuff broke down while other stuff froze and burst. We kept getting called away from scheduled work to answer emergency service calls. The same thing will be happening this weekend plus it’s Christmas. There are GA Power customers in our area that have been without electricity for eight hours. Pray for all those affected by the extreme cold, linemen and other emergency services, and don’t forget holiday travelers that may not make it to where they are going or will be stuck when they get there. The bright side is this will not last long. By next weekend we’ll be back up in the 60’s here.

Happy Monday

We may have posted this image before. That’s okay, we’ve been doing Happy Monday for over 10 years and I’ve been drinking coffee since I was 12. Some things never change. This is Happy Monday #510.
