I am not the world’s biggest sports fan but my readers know I follow two teams very closely, the Atlanta Braves MLB team and the SEC Georgia Bulldogs. Prior to this week, the last time the Bulldogs were national champions Jimmy Carter was still in office. (Reagan had been elected but not inaugurated as of New Year’s Day 1981).

iMonk Radio: Bonus Track

Here is an interview with Michael Spencer from October of 2008. This is actually episode #2 of the brand new (at the time) SBC Voices podcast hosted by Tony Kummer. I’m not finding the Cornerstone 2009 interview/panel discussion right now but I may be able to go back into my own blog archives and pull it out. I will either post that next week or go back to iMonk Radio Podcast #5. I don’t have the first one but I do have ep’s 5 and 8 so down in the single digits.

Happy Monday

We think it would be cooler if it said “samiches” but that’s fine.

This is Happy Monday #461.

Wait, what? We’re not saying that anymore? Lake Superior State University has released their annual list of the words and phrases most of us are tired of hearing and the rest of us need to drop. If Jimmy Humphrey were in fact to stop using at the end of the day the Jimmy’s Table podcast would drop from 30 minutes to only 10. While the list makes a humorous commentary on our culture at a given moment in time I do not recognize their authority in this matter. At the end of the day appeared on their list a decade ago and you may notice that people still say it. At best Lake Superior operates at an advisory capacity with no enforcement whatsoever.

iMonk Radio Podcast #167

This is the last episode of Internet Monk Radio. The broadcast is short and quite a bit of this one is music. Michael acknowledges being sick but going into the Advent season of 2009 he fully expected to get better.

Happy Monday

Are you back to work this morning after a long weekend/Christmas vacation, or has weather extended your time off? It was pouring down rain in Los Angeles over the weekend, that was weird. Whatever the current conditions where you are, this is the first Monday of 2022 and we’re here to do the best we can with what we’ve got. This is Happy Monday #460.

Betty White passes away just 18 days short of her 100th birthday. Fans flocked to Twitter to see if this was another hoax, which did happen in 2014. Lifetime had planned a Betty White Christmas movie but her declining health caused them to reconsider months ago. There was a movie about her life set to open on January 17th featuring White herself and an all-star cast. It is unclear whether that will go on as planned or perhaps be retooled as more of a tribute to the late star. A lot of people are making a big deal about how 2021 couldn’t just go in peace.

Happy Monday

We had a great Christmas and hope you did too. Now we can settle back into our regular routine of coffee memes, puns and cute little aminals on Monday morning. Right after these verses of scripture and words of inspiration. This is Happy Monday #459.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
