Good News Food News – Taco Bell is bringing back the Mexican pizza. It has been rumored, then “confirmed” rumored, but we now have an official announcement and a date from the chain. The fan favorite will return May 19th with select locations getting a one or two day early release. Above right is the spicy Chick-fil-A biscuit which is only available for a limited time. While that news could be better is the first time since 2016 that is has made a comeback. The official date is April 25th but our local Chick-fil-A has them on the menu already. Last year movie makers gave us a new Ghostbusters sequel and all three Spider-Men (from the last 25 years) in a film together. Now fast food has decided to give us what we want. It’s like consumer sovereignty is actually a thing again.

Climate change, get it? So yes, that’s a single frame comic and this is not Happy Monday. But I wanted to write commentary. The first thing someone is going to say is that pennies falling from great heights, such as perhaps the top of the Empire State Building, would kill people standing on the ground. Here is just one article describing the science of falling pennies. In an airless environment pennies would reach a velocity of 200+ miles per hour. Pretty much any object would, and be lethal. But pennies fall more like sheets of paper, tumbling over and over, than like bullets which are aerodynamically designed to be stable in flight. A bowling ball might kill you because its weight gives it a higher terminal velocity even in an atmosphere. A ball point pen might be dangerous, even lethal, if it fell straight down like an arrow shot from a bow. Pennies from heaven would be safe. Since actual climate change is a political issue, I will move on without further comment.

Happy Monday began back in 2012 during the summer Olympic games. We took time to mentioned that earlier this week in post #365. Then I was surprised by the announcement above from WordPress. My own blogoversary snuck up on me. Six Years at the Table was published in 2014 and tells the story of how The Master’s Table came to be. If anyone reading today has been with us since 2008, shout out in the comments. Continue reading
Satur-deja Vu

Happy Leap Day! While today is February 29th, and there will not be another until the year 2024, we’re still not having a February 30th. So I would finish that milk off in the next couple of days and not wait for one. Welcome to the Deja Vu. Continue reading
Satur-deja Vu
I became aware of the Popeye’s vs. Chick-fil-A sandwich rivalry last Saturday. It was too late to make the Satur-deja Vu but the memes were fun while it lasted. So what really happened? Popeye’s did not run out of chicken. They had set up a line of supply they thought would satisfy demand, which they considered optimistic, through the end of September. The public response to the social media war surpassed all expectations and they were not prepared to meet that kind of demand. They never ran out of chicken but lines were long, shortages were widespread, and employees were working long hours and overtime in every location. Click here to read the real full story of how the decision made at the corporate office (in Miami by the way) to shut it down. It wasn’t as much of a decision as a realization. Continue reading
The Read and Share File
It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to share. Here’s what this writer has been reading:
9 Marks offers tips on leading the church in a healthy direction. Read them here.
Tim Challies is doing a series on the holiness of God.
- Part 1: The Holiness of God and the Existence of Hell
- Part 2: The Just Wrath of a Holy God
- Part 3: God’s Mercy and God’s Wrath Meet at the Cross
Ray Ortland suggests that small talk has a place in ministry. While I agree, I’m not totally sure that’s what happened in Acts 10:27. Read The Astonishing Amiability and see what you think.
God Bless Chick-fil-A
If you don’t know Tim Hawkins you’re really missing out. All seriousness aside, let’s watch this and share a smile. I’ll see you all next Wednesday at a Chick-fil-A near you (unless you live in Boston).

Below is Tim’s original Chick-fil-A song, with a special Truet & Dan Cathy verse. Continue reading
As For Me and My House, We Will Eat at Chick-fil-A.
Thousands of conservatives protested JC Penny when they announced that Ellen DeGeneres would be their new spokesperson. (If you recall, I cited the ridiculousness of such a boycott). In light of Christians calling on others in their ranks to boycott Disney, JC Penny, or (retailer of the week) for supporting gay marriage we should not be surprised that gay and lesbian groups are calling for organized boycotts against Chick-fil-A for their public stance on supporting the family.
Please read this article, published by Denny Burk, titled Chick-fil-A and the Irony of the Tolerance Policy. I will offer a couple of excerpts but strongly encourage reading the original piece. Continue reading
