Satur-deja Vu

There are 151 stops on the World Champions Trophy Tour in recognition of 151 years of Braves baseball. It was only 81 degrees in Calhoun last night, the sky was overcast with a light breeze. On Thursday 600 people turned out to see the trophy in Cartersville where they had to wait in line in the hot sun. The tour continues through the summer with stops not only in Georgia but also Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina. Here’s a link. Speaking of the Braves winning things… they are currently on a nine game winning streak with a 32 – 27 record. They continue their series with the Pirates today at 4:10.

Satur-deja Vu

Tokyo Meal Count – The United States is tied with China for the number of total medals but falling even further behind in the quest for gold. China is really showing up and showing out this year. This is a busy weekend with track and field events starting up and overlapping swimming and gymnastics that haven’t finished. Daniel Jepsen is back from vacation and has a full Olympic special edition on the Saturday Brunch. He covers some events that have been dropped over the years (such as live pigeon shooting and solo synchronized swimming) and unveils the 2024 Olympics in Paris logo. The internet is having some fun with it, per the usual.

A Royal Priesthood

If you’re a follower, online or in real life, you know how I feel about the Old Testament: everything is a metaphor.  The nation of Israel, sacrificial system, temple, alter, high priest, exodus from Egypt, brass serpent, passover, circumcision, etc. are all symbolic of what Christ does in the New Testament.  You’ve probably heard me say (or at least read) that Moses leading the Hebrews through the wilderness is a portrait of Jesus leading us through this present wilderness.  They were marching toward the “promised land” and so are we.  Abraham was willing to offer his son Isaac… you get the point.  Is there an analogy left that I could possibly make?  Why yes, yes there is.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.  –1 Peter 2:9
