Satur-deja Vu

Hurricane Ian – There is probably no way you missed this story but it’s not over yet. The death toll in Florida stands at 33 but that number is subject to change and Ian made landfall again on Friday afternoon at Charleston, South Carolina, after regaining hurricane status. Pray for all those who have been and continue to be affected. Word of caution: only donate money through established organizations with a good reputation/history. The American Red Cross and the Salvation Army are good examples and Southern Baptists will be mobilizing their own disaster relief teams in the days and weeks ahead. Think twice about responding to online ads or texting money from your phone; know who you are dealing with. And be patient. Search and rescue is always a priority followed by restoring power and clearing roads. Cleaning up and rebuilding will go on for months to come. Rushing in too quickly will get in the way and slow down some emergency services. The news will move on in a few days to the next breaking story but Puerto Rico, Cuba, Florida and the Carolinas will still need prayer, financial and volunteer support.
