I thought about it, back when I worked with middle and high school students. They had chapel five days a week and twice on Sunday (no joke). I never actually planned it. I can’t imagine pitching that idea to the administration, but many times during chapel services I looked at the width of the aisles, the size of the stage (it was massive) and considered the angle I would need for the ramp. Ergun Caner is a man familiar with controversy.

NASA picked up three astronauts after splashdown Sunday afternoon for the first time since 1975. The promise of the space shuttle program with its reusable vehicle was a new mission every month, which NASA was never able to achieve. The skyrocketing (no pun intended) cost of the space program has led to international cooperation rather than competition and private investment, such as the case with SpaceX. One of the best headlines I saw this week asked why they came back!

Disney made a live-action version of Mulan. Then the pandemic shut down many businesses including movie theaters. The release date got pushed back twice. Now they have announced a release date of September 4th on Disney+. But unlike other titles that were dumped straight to Disney+ this one will cost an additional $30 to stream. How do you feel about that? I have not been blown away by any of the live action remakes and Mulan was never the best Disney animated film to begin with. I don’t think I would pay $1.99 for the DVD at Redbox but we’ll see if this new model becomes the wave of the future. Movie theaters are probably going out of business either way.

I took this picture a few years ago at Unity Baptist in Plainville. If you’re church isn’t 150 years old then you may not have a collection of Baptist Hymnals going back to the Roosevelt administration but we sure do.

Alright, busy Saturday, lots of plans. Let me leave you with this encouragement:

This is My Father’s World was written by Maltbie Davenport Babcock, a minister in New York, as a poem before he passed away in 1901. The words were set to music in 1915 and published as a hymn in 1919.

  1. I can’t believe I forgot to mention “this week on the Master’s Table” at all. I wrote a post on blogrolls and ask for comments. Eight bloggers clicked the Like button, no one left a comment. (My wife told me that she likes blogrolls but didn’t post it anywhere.)
